  • Kindergarten Summer Fun

    The Summer Fun Program is great way to prepare your child for the start of kindergarten.Students will become familiar with their school building, and experience the routines of a typical day in a kindergarten class.They will leave feeling more confident, and ready for the first day of school! All pre-school students who will be starting kindergarten at Shrewsbury Public Schools in the fall of 2024 are eligible to register. The program will run in each of the five elementary schools, so please register for the location where your child will be attending Kindergarten. Cost: $100* Dates: Monday August 5th – Thursday August 8th Hours: 9:00AM-11:30AM Locations: Maj. Howard Beal School, Calvin Coolidge School, Walter J. Paton School, Floral Street School, Spring Street School. *financial aid is available.Please contact Karen Isaacson, Director of Extended Learning, for more information. kisaacson@shrewsbury.k12.ma.us Please note: Each class is taught by one of the kindergarten teachers at Shrewsbury Public Schools, but it may not be your child’s specific teacher or classroom. There is no transportation provided for this program. Parents must provide their own transportation. There is no nurse on duty during the program. If your child has a medical condition that requires medication, you will need to coordinate with the program director and school nurse to create an appropriate action plan that meets your child's needs.

  • Summer Academy

    Summer Academy is a free academic recovery program for qualifying students, including English Language Education. Students must be invited by Shrewsbury Public Schools in order to participate. Grades: students currently enrolled in grades K-6 Location: Sherwood Middle School Cost: Fee Hours: 8:30 AM - 11:30 AM, Monday-Thursday Dates: July 10-13, July 17-20, and July 24-27
  • Summer Enrichment Program

    The Summer Enrichment Program offers hands-on learning experiences for students who will be entering grades 1-8 in the fall of 2024. The program runs for four weeks in June and July, with half-day and full-day options available. Classes are taught by Shrewsbury Public School professionals, and other local educators. Topics include art, science, sports, technology, drama, writing, engineering and much more. With hundreds of classes to choose from, there’s something for everyone. Students must be have completed kindergarten and be 6 years old by 8/31/24 in order to participate. Program Dates June 24-27 July 8-11 July 15-18 July 22-25 Location: Sherwood Middle School Times: All classes meet Monday-Thursday. Grades: The grade range for each class is the grade your child will be entering in the fall of 2024. For example, if your child is currently in kindergarten, you will select classes for grade1. AM session 8:30-11:30 - $100 per week PM session 12:00-3:00 - $100 per week Early drop off 7:00-8:30 - $40 per week Extended Hours 3:00-6:00 - $85 per week Students who stay all day may bring a lunch from home and will be supervised in the cafeteria from 11:30-12:00 FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Students who meet the financial guidelines for the free and reduced lunch program can use the code SUMMER50 at checkout to receive a 50% discount off their total fees. Please note, even though all SPS students currently receive free lunch, this discount is only for families who meet the federal income guidelines for free and reduced meals. If you meet the criteria, you are eligible for financial assistance with other school programs. Learn more and apply here. All discounts will be verified with Food Services, and if you do not qualify, you will be billed the full cost of the class. Students who do not attend Shrewsbury Public Schools are not eligible for this discount, regardless of income status. IMPORTANT: Class fees are non-refundable. You will be required to pay a 50% deposit at the time of registration. The remaining balance will be automatically charged to your card on June 1st. If you cancel your registration prior to June 1st, you won't be charged the balance, but you will not be refunded your initial deposit.   • Summer Robotics

    REGISTRATION FOR THE 2024 PROGRAM WILL OPEN TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 13TH AT 7:00AM During this week-long program, students will learn how to build and program Lego Mindstorm robots, working collaboratively in small groups with coaching from the Shrewsbury High School Robotics Team. Students will participate in a variety of other group challenges and activities throughout the week, including buliding and launching their own model rocket! All activities teach students about teamwork, compromise, success, failure and more. They will have fun in the process and learn valuable teamworking skills. Grades: For students entering grades 4-8 in the fall of 2024 Location: Shrewsbury High School Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30-3:30 Cost: $310 per week Four sessions to choose from: July 8-12 July 15-19 July 22-26 July 29 - Aug 2 Due to the repetitive nature of each week's program, we recommend that first-time participants only register for one session. Experienced participants who know what to expect are welcome to register for more than one week. Students should bring a lunch from home Monday-Thursday, On Friday we provide the students with a pizza lunch, this is included in the price. During Friday afternoon the students compete against the other teams using the Lego Robots they have been building during the week. This competition is based on the FIRST Lego League competition from the preceding season. Parents are invited to come and watch this.
  • Vacation Week Enrichment

    APRIL VACATION ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS Registration will open Thursday March 14th at 7:00AM. Shrewsbury Public Schools is offering enrichment classes during the week of April vacation for students in grades K-6. These classes are open to all members of the community. Dates: Tuesday April 16th - Friday April 19th, 2024 Location: Beal School, 214 Lake Street AM classes: 8:30-11:30 AM - $100 PM classes: 12:00-3:00 PM - $100 Extended Hours: 3:00-6:00PM - $80 Early Drop-off: 7:00-8:30 - $40 Students who enroll in both morning and afternoon classes will bring a lunch from home and will be supervised in the cafeteria from 11:30-12:00. Program staff will help students get to their afternoon class after lunch. Parents must provide their own transportation to and from the program.
